Why your business should be using Facebook Ads to secure Christmas Shopping Sales
As November is officially here we think it’s just about okay to start talking about Christmas. Yes, it’s that time of the year again; the Christmas decorations have been creeping into the shops over the last month or so and from now on everyone pretty much becomes obsessed with all things Christmas.
Online shopping has become a dominant means by which Christmas shopping is carried out and with many shoppers spending their time surfing the internet and scrolling through social media, it creates the perfect opportunity for marketers looking to secure those additional sales. Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram host a powerful advertising platform in which businesses are able to target their customers.
So who do we target?
As it’s Christmas you will more than likely be needing to target your Facebook Ads to the gift buyer. This is something you really need to keep in mind when creating your target audience and setting up your Facebook advert.
Let’s take a pair of slippers for example, (a popular Christmas present) and firstly identify who the slippers are for and secondly who would be purchasing the slippers. Slippers are popular with all ages. For this instance, let’s take a pretty, comfy and practical pair of slippers intended for an older female. This would be a great item to target to younger age groups buying a present for their Mum. So although your pair of slippers might be designed with an older female in mind, for targeting purposes you will want to identify key trends of the offspring of the female shopper for whom the slippers are intended.
Add some sparkle to your Creative
It is Christmas after all, so don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your Christmas Ad Campaign. People think of Christmas as a time for celebration, spending time with family and friends, relaxing in front of the fire at home and generally having a great time away from work. You might want to convey some of these messages in your Ad Text and Imagery. It’s the perfect opportunity to influence for example “The perfect present for Mum this Christmas” (this could help someone out if they are struggling for inspiration on what to buy). Make your product irresistible by adding a special offer and powerful call to action.
Top Tip – If your product is suitable for a wide audience, create multiple ad sets to target different gift buying audiences, with relevant ad text curated for each ad set.
Don’t Forget Remarketing
Although Christmas is all about the gift buying, there is a trend emerging that is seeing shoppers begin to treat themselves. Yes, buying yourself a Christmas present is now a thing. So don’t ignore your remarketing campaigns on Facebook. Hopefully your pixel is capturing traffic that lands on your website. You can remarket to people that have landed on a specific page or even looked at a certain product. Remarketing creates a huge opportunity to secure those sales of people that have already shown an interest in your products or services (use Facebook Remarketing Ads as a gentle reminder that they’ve looked at the item before).
Happy Christmas Shopping, don’t leave it all until the last minute!
